Berenice was born as a child of French Chinese and Cambodian parents in Paris France May 19, 1979. The father of her is Chinese, and her mother French. Her family is a family of middle class having both a Chinese-Cambodian heritage. Her mother taught while her father was an ophthalmologist. Growing up in Paris, her love for the arts grew and she spent the majority of her youth playing piano or in the studio painting. Paint and music were the two things she was passionate about, and both influenced her to follow her dreams to pursue a profession.
